May 21, 2011 – Another group of retired racers have arrived in Winnipeg. Go to the Available Dogs for photos and information.

March 5, 2011 – Volunteers convoyed to the U.S. border at Pembina, North Dakota to meet the new arrivals. Our Florida contact drove the eleven Greys from Florida to Illinois on Thursday, and stayed overnight there. Friday afternoon, volunteers from Midwest Greyhound Adoption drove all night to meet us in Pembina for 8:00 am.

I think the poor Greyhounds were in shock after leaving the balmy Florida weather to experience a nippy -15C! We quickly loaded them up into our vehicles for the last leg of their journey. For some of us, it was almost like a “religious” experience – seeing all these absolutely stunning Greyhounds coming to the end of their racing careers, and beginning their “real” life of retired racers and “couch potatoes”.

Check out the Available Dogs for photos and information on these Florida retirees.

Am also very interested in adopting a hound. We do not currently have a dog. We have two boys ages 9 and 4. The only difference is that we live in Thompson. Are we able to adopt this far north? We have heard that being this far north makes the process almost impossible.

I have been attending, helping and fostering with some other rescue groups in the city this year. I always look for the beautiful High Speed Hounds. You guys need to join in with the other groups at the adoption fairs. They are usually listed on facebook. This sat Jn25 between 11-3 is Bits & Bites on 2200 McPhilips. A few weeks ago there was a large adoption fair in Anola.
