Race 4 Your Heart

The “Race for your Heart” is the main fund raising event held yearly for Hi-Speed Hounds Greyhound Rescue & Adoption, Inc. You can enter to run or walk 10km, or the half-marathon.

What a beautiful day for the race – it was quite a difference from last year’s freezing wind! We had right around 100 runners, and everyone truly seemed to enjoy the event. We were well-organized, thanks to the many volunteers that came out to support HSH: Mary & John, Barry, Jake & Darlene, Paul & Cynthia, Tim, Ilona & Brad, Judy, Kim S., Dodi, Joanne & John, Sandra, Tara, Shannon & Madeline, Ron, Dodi, & Shell, and Gay. And also for donations from Julia, Pat & Arlene, and Evelyn & Ron, who were unable to attend. Most of the other volunteers and donated items for the race, too. And thank you to Tracey and Erin for bringing in SO many pledges ($689 in total!) to support Eric Kowalyk, who WON this year’s HSH Half Marathon!!

Thanks also to Zesto’s Restaurant, Skinner’s Restaurant, Starbucks, The Running Room, Diane from Athletics, and Donna Maxwell of the Selkirk Record for your continued support. For timing our race: Marilyn Fraser, Steve Gajerski, Cathy, and to Murray Rose for measuring the course and for timing. We could not possibly pull this off without everyone’s help and dedication to our cause, and we appreciate you all!

We have some beautiful T-shirts left from the race, so please consider buying one to support HSH! They are $20 for short-sleeved, and $25 for long-sleeved. (Cost of mailing within Canada and the U.S. included in the price) You can contact the site for information on how to get yours.
