How can I help?
Hi-Speed Hounds is a non-profit, all-volunteer greyhound rescue organization located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Thousands of greyhounds retire each year when they are no longer competitive. We strive to educate the public and potential adopters about these gentle loving dogs and place them into permanent loving homes.
Hi-Speed Hounds needs YOUR help!
Foster Homes
We’re always looking for qualified foster families for our retired racers. Foster Parents help the greyhounds transition from the track to a home environment. Please contact us to discuss fostering one of our rescued dogs.
Monetary Donation
We gladly accept donations. Use the PayPal button below. Donations of $10 and higher will receive a mailed tax receipt.
United Way
As most of us know, the United Way supports many local charities and non-profit organizations. Several of our Greyhound owners have used their payroll deduction as an option at work to Support Hi-Speed Hounds. You hardly miss a few dollars off your paycheque, and the tax receipt can benefit you when filing your return with Revenue Canada. Please consider directing a portion (or all) of your contribution towards Hi-Speed Hounds. Their Charitable Registration Number is: 827 150 343 RROOO1.
Here are a few proud supporters of Hi-Speed Hounds, through the United Way:
Honey Stetson – Photographer
Honey has generously offered a $50.00 donation to HSH from each wedding package booked. Learn more about Honey.
Donation of Items
We also gratefully accept donations of food, giant crates or large pens, toys, blankets, towels, and garage sale items. Please contact us to donate any of these items.
Our sincerest thanks to everyone who has adopted a greyhound, or donated their time, money, or supplies.
Hi-Speed Hounds would also like to thank the following people and organizations for their own donations of time, materials, money, and efforts for Hi-Speed Hounds to continue to rescue greyhounds.

Hi there,i am interested in fostering a greyhound. i have lots of room living outside the city in Falcon Lake, and have lots of free time to spend with the dog, maximum it would be alone is 16 hours a week. i also have a very friendly 4 year old golden Lab and an equally friendly cat. i think i could create a good environment for a foster dog, if you could send me some information that would be appreciated. Thank You!

I think the best person to talk to is Michaela at ronco1@shaw.ca or 219-4029.
She can give you all the details on fostering.
Please contact the site if you have more questions.

Hi Laura.
You sent me an email last week, and we had a very tough week here as we lost the second of our Greys in less than 4 weeks. I went back to answer your email, and someone must have deleted it.
Could you please contact me again, and I apologize for the mix up.
Thanks so much,
Michaela.

When you add a note; “Please contact us to discuss fostering one of our rescued dogs”, I would think it would be common sense to add a clearly visible “Contact Us” section, including information beyond a single phone number. As I do not have a phone at this moment, not only do I not know how to adopt your dogs, I also do not know who I should ask about this, or how, and writing a public note like this on an article on your web page is embarrassing for both myself, and those who created this site. I passionately wish to adopt a retired Greyhound of my own, and this site has not made things easier for me. I would love to hear from someone, but I doubt this is how it will be done. If my note is read, thank you for your time, and I would enjoy hearing from you.

Hi,
Do you have any volunteer opportunities available? I read that you are completely run by volunteers, and I’d love to get involved.
